We have had such a fun week learning about Autumn
!
Our
“Autumn Celebration Day” allowed the Nursery and Reception children to play alongside each other whilst becoming involved in a variety of Autumn themed activities.

Please see pictures below!
---------------------------------

Today has been a very exciting day!
We had a visit from a Hedgehog called Rosie and 2 Rabbits; Buttercup and Tulip. Some of us were really brave and stroked the Hedgehog, he was very prickly! Lots of us held the rabbits, they were really fluffy!

Please see the pictures below.

We also received a letter from Harold the Hedgehog who lives in our playground. He asked if we could build him a house to live in over the winter using the leaves and twigs that are in our playground. He has been eating lots of worms and is starting to get very sleepy.
We made some fabulous houses!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week the children have thoroughly enjoyed doing activities around the story
‘Whatever Next!’

We;
- made space pictures,
- talked about the places we would like to go in a rocket and thought about what we would take with us,
-designed our own rockets and also made them with 2d shapes,
- talked about shiny and non- shiny objects
and we had a picnic on the moon!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week the children have been thoroughly engrossed in activities around 'Incy Wincy Spider.'

We have;

----------------------------------------------------------------

We've had some fun filled weeks singing lots of nursery rhymes and completely different activities around the rhymes.

-We explored a dark tent during Twinkl Twinkl Little star.
-We did a science experiment to see if eggs would crack landing on different surfaces. Some of our predictions were correct! The feathers were soft so the egg didn't crack!
-Everyone practised their cutting skills and cut out a fish shape, we made our own fishing rods during 1 2 3 4 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive. We enjoyed trying to catch fish with nets in the water tray!

-------------------------
On Internet Safety Day we read a story about Smartie the Penguin. Smartie says
"before you tap and click you need to stop and think and tell someone!"
We are all going to remember that when we are on the computers at School or our Tablets at home.

We are very lucky at Larklands Nursery to have a Level 3 qualified Forest School leader, Miss Banks. Miss Banks run's a program with a small group of children in the 'forest' at the rear of the school, alongside Mrs Hemsley.
At Larklands Nursery we understand the importance of outdoor learning in the lives of young children and ensure that every effort is made to use our grounds and resources to their full potential. We have seen first hand the impact the sessions have on the children in terms of self-confidence and self-awareness, understanding the world and increased progress with communication and language skills.

Scroll down to find out more about what the Nursery children have been doing during their time in Forest Schools.

Here are some pictures of activities that we take part in during Forest School:

We pass around our 'Talking Stick' to introduce ourselves and share our favourite parts of the Forest School session!

We build shelters together when the weather is wet to help us to keep dry!

We enjoy a snack time together in the log circle, Hot chocolate is our favourite!
